VISION

  • Our vision is to nurture, inspire and provoke the students to become independent intellectual and to progress themselves a sense of self-responsibilities to achieve their potential goals and smooth transformation to professionals with self-integrity, mentally firm and committed citizens of the nation.

MISSION

  • To enrich and progress the quality of education through practical model systems and digital resources
  • To uphold undergraduate and graduate teaching to raise the next generation of academic, industrial, and government laboratory chemists who will be entreated to solve new problems.
  • To support the developmental activities of the College and make the Department vibrant.

  

Strengths:

  • Experienced, dedicated and energetic teaching faculty.
  • Good teaching and learning environment supported by departmental library and college library.
  • Teaching methods like PPT presentations, AV presentations, seminars, group discussions, industrial visits etc. are used to improve student learning.
  • The department has well-equipped laboratories with instruments like pH meter, Conductivity meter, potentiometer, Colourimeter, Spectrophotometer etc.
  • Impressive results in the University Examinations.
  • Organising activities related to Chemistry courses like Mole day, and Ozone day.
  • Active participation in activities like Blood donation, Cleaning campaigns, and food distribution during floods, through the programmes like NSS. 

Weakness:

  • Students who have a weak socio-economical background.
  • Space is the major constraint in development.
  • Require more smart classrooms for UG & PG programmes.
  • Insufficient Industry-Academia Interaction.

Opportunities:

  • To start Post Graduate course in Chemistry
  • To create Certificate Courses which improve employability skills.
  • To increase Industry-Academia interaction. 

  Challenges:

  • To meet the need of industries by using the existing curriculum. 
  • To increase collaboration with industries for better placements. 
  • Creating awareness about self-employment and higher education opportunities.  

 

Future Plans

  • Improve collaboration with Chemistry Alumni to strengthen campus placement for students.
  • Conduct one National seminar to create awareness on future trends in Chemistry.
  • To offer consultancy services by the Department of Chemistry.
  • To encourage students to complete MOOCS courses.
  • To establish well equipped research Laboratory and Increase the research activity.
